Agenda:

Day 1, September 3rd (Tuesday), 4.40 – 5.55 PM

Panel Discussion “Innovation Through Partnerships”

Switzerland has consistently ranked at the top of the list of the world’s most innovative economies for the past 13 years – The Global Innovation Index 2023, while Swiss companies are among the undisputed leaders in their industries. This is due, among other things, to the high quality of organization, openness to economic exchange and an effective ecosystem for innovation development. Among the many innovative industries, those carrying innovative solutions for people’s health and quality of life, including the FMCG and pharmaceutical sectors, hold a special position. In the face of tremendous climate, economic and social challenges, questions about the value of innovation and its importance in building sustainable growth, but most importantly, the well-being of society, remain relevant. How to build long-term and stable partnerships for innovation development? How to create an effective ecosystem for innovation development in Poland? Finally, how to support the development and implementation of innovation in areas of critical importance to society, such as health and life? How to engage business, science and administration to take full advantage of Poland’s innovative potential to meet the challenges of the future?

14th Polish-Swiss Forum for Health Dialogue

Panel Discussion: „Coordination is King: How Integrated Healthcare Can Relieve Hospitals, Reduce Costs, and Improve Patient Outcomes?”

The Polish-Swiss Forum for Health Dialogue is a well-established, annual event organized to reflect on current trends and challenges in healthcare. Experts and policy makers from both countries get together to share their experience and knowledge and develop recommendations for improvements in the healthcare system. This year’s edition will be dedicated to coordinated healthcare and once again hosted in the Swiss Pavilion at the XXXIII Economic Forum in Karpacz. Coordinated Healthcare, sometimes referred to as Managed Care or Integrated Care, aims to optimise patient care by streamlining communication and collaboration among a number of healthcare providers. It involves integrating medical services across different specialties and settings to ensure seamless transitions and continuity of care for patients, especially those with chronic diseases such as cancer or cardiovascular problems. It fosters cooperation among primary care physicians, specialists, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and social services. This approach can improve patient outcomes, relieve hospitals, and reduce healthcare costs.

Day II, September 4th (Wednesday), 14:55 – 15:55

Panel discussion “Disease prevention – how to increase participation of Poles

in preventive examinations?”

Panel description:

We now have a number of scientific studies proving that screening has a significant impact on reducing cancer mortality and achieving population-based health outcomes. As experts emphasize, in order to achieve the population effect of screening, the screening enrollment rate should be at least 70%. How to effectively encourage Poles to perform preventive examinations, such as mammography, ultrasound or colonoscopy, in order to achieve a population health effect? During the discussion among experts of the healthcare system, representatives of patients’ organizations and public administration, we would like to talk about the importance and value of preventive examinations, both for cancer and for rheumatological and civilization diseases. What systemic barriers impede the use of preventive examinations? Will thoughtful, widespread outreach about the benefits of preventive testing be enough to increase enrollment in free, NHF-funded tests?

Participants:

  • Paweł Koczkodaj, MD, EMBA, Professor of the Institute, Department of Epidemiology and Primary Prevention of Cancer, Maria Skłodowska-Curie National Cancer Institute – National Research Institute

  • Anna Kupiecka, President of the OnkoCafe Foundation – Razem Lepiej
