Jarosław Bełdowski joins Dentons

Dentons has strengthened its Banking and Finance practice in Warsaw with the arrival of counsel, Jarosław Bełdowski, PhD, LLM.

Jarosław Bełdowski moved from a partner’s position at SMM Business Lawyers—a leading Polish law firm—where he advised clients in the banking sector. He also held a  Senior Advisor, Financial, Regulatory Affairs position at CEC Governmental Relations. For almost two years he served as Vice President and First Deputy of the President of the Management Board at Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, where he managed a team of over 400 people, responsible for supervision and fulfilment of government programs and funds as well as EU programs (R&D loans, Jessica and Jeremie initiatives).

During his professional career Jarosław Bełdowski served as an Adviser to the Minister in the Ministry of Justice, where he managed the Strategy and Deregulation Department, responsible for the first tranche of professional services deregulation. He was also Adviser to the Chairman of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, where his responsibility was to develop recommendations for legal solutions for the integration of financial services within the EU, including, in particular, those aimed at protecting stability on the Polish financial services market, developing recommendations for the UKNF policy in the area of protecting financial sector clients, as well as providing substantive support for the Commission’s Chairman with recommendations and analysis relating to legislative proposals for financial market supervision. In 2007-2010 he was the President of the Board at FOR (Civil Development Forum Foundation). Previously, at the Polish Central Bank, he was the Director of the Regional Branch at Gdansk and served as Head of the International Department where, among others, he managed a team responsible for cooperation with international financial institutions, e.g. the World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and International Monetary Fund.

Dr. Bełdowski graduated from the Law and Administration Faculty of the University of Silesia as well as the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, where he obtained an LL.M. in European law. In March 2016 he presented his doctoral thesis titled “Fundamental Breach of Contract”.
