On-line workshop with BALAJCZA: How to work effectively with Americans?

Monday, 5th June 2023

2 pm-3 pm

The United States is a remarkable cultural mix. That’s why they are said to be a melting pot of nations, where the influences of countless cultures and nationalities are all blended together.

Jimmy Carter, however, preferred a slightly different term. He used to say: “We become not a melting pot but a beautiful mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams..”

If you work with Americans on a daily basis, it is worth taking a closer look at their culture and considering which of its aspects are important for better business cooperation.

During the meeting we will approach the following topics:

  • What’s up? That is, small talk and conversing about nothing – why is it so important to Americans?
  • Awesome, amazing, fantastic – why do Americans overuse these words? We will talk about the national optimism of Americans.
  • Individualism, or how do Americans approach teamwork, shared responsibility and separation of duties?

Moreover:

  • How can you communicate effectively with Americans? And how do Americans give feedback?
  • How can you build good relations with Americans?
  • Is it true that for an American “time is money”?

The person to tell us about effective cooperation with the Americans will be:

Magdalena Żymełka, business and intercultural competence trainer, consultant.

She has been working as a trainer and consultant since 2007, both in Poland and abroad.

She has worked in such regions as: EMEA, APAC and AMER (Poland, UK, Czechia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Spain, India, Philippines, Hong Kong, USA) and trained individuals from these regions.
