A linguistic borrowing, or a loanword or foreign word, is a linguistic element taken from a foreign language that has established itself as part of the native language. The term is used in opposition to the native vocabulary. The term “borrowing” is used to describe all foreign words, phrases, derivative types, inflectional forms, syntactic constructions and phraseological compounds.
During the workshop we will talk about:
- common anglicisms
- words that seem native but come from other languages
- how borrowings and their use affect communication between members of different generations
The meeting will be hosted by Ms Olga Marek-Kostrzewska, a Polish language teacher at the Lingua Polonica school, and a marketing and PR specialist by profession. She built her experience working for companies such as Benefit Systems and at numerous marketing conferences.
The meeting will be held in Polish.
