On Monday, 18 November 2013 PKP Intercity and a consortium of Stadler Polska and Newag officially signed a contract in Nowy Sącz (southern Poland) for the delivery of 20 electric trains (EZT) and provision of maintenance services.
In attendance were, among others, the management of PKP Intercity (Janusz Malinowski, President of the Management Board and Maria Wasiak, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board), management board of Newag (Zbigniew Konieczek, President of the Management Board Wiesław Piwowar, Vice-president and Bogdan Borek, management board member) and the owner of the Stadler Rail AG Group, Mr. Peter Spuhler, as well as representatives of state authorities: Andrzej Massel, Deputy Minister for rail transport, Jerzy Miller, Governor of Małopolskie province and Andrzej Czerwiński, local MP. Worth PLN 1.6 billion, it is the largest contract for the delivery of rolling stock / electric trains in Poland this year.
Dentons law firm provided comprehensive advice to the Stadler/Newag consortium at all stages of the tender, including signing of the contract. The public procurement team headed by Aldona Kowalczyk successfully represented the consortium of Stadler/Newag in appeal proceedings before the National Appeal Chamber concerning this tender, including proceedings concerning selection of the winning offer. The awarding entity received 4 offers, but the one presented by the consortium of Stadler Polska and Newag was considered the most advantageous.

On Sunday, 24th November, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Mariott Hotel the 6th International Charity Bazaar will take place.

20 years of Franke Polska
Conference entitled “20 years of Swiss standards on the Polish market” was held on 24 September in Bristol Hotel in Warsaw as part of celebration of the 20-year presence of Franke on the Polish market.
Mr Lukas Beglinger, Ambassador of Switzerland in Poland, Mr Marek Kondrat, President of the Polish-Swiss Chamber of Commerce, Mr Michael Pieper, the owner and CEO of Franke Artemis Group, and Mr Marek Szymański, president of Franke Polska, took part in the debate.
The guests invited to the debate talked about Swiss standards in operating business and quality of products and services, as well as about how to promote Swiss standards on the Polish market. The discussion highlighted the fact that the country devoid of natural resources, that is Switzerland, earned itself a leading position in world rankings of quality and innovative products and services. Switzerland is also mentioned in the forefront of the most positive conceptual categories, such as a symbol of luxury and exclusivity, assertion of status, most trusted, secure and reliable.

Atrium acquires Galeria Dominikańska
Two leading Warsaw law firms, Dentons and Gide Loyrette Nouel, acted in one of the most prestigious real estate transactions in recent years ‒ the acquisition of Galeria Dominikańska, one of the largest shopping centers in Wrocław. The Buyer, Atrium European Real Estate, was advised by Dentons, while the Seller ‒ a joint venture of the Otto Family and Deutsche EuroShop AG ‒ was represented by Gide Loyrette Nouel. The project is valued at €152 million.
The transaction was financed internally by the buyer and will take effect upon approval by the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).
Galeria Dominikańska, opened in 2001, is the first modern metropolitan shopping center in Wrocław and has a total retail area of 32,900 sq. m., featuring 102 stores and service points.
Atrium European Real Estate is a major group managing large stores and shopping centers in Central and Eastern Europe. It has a €2.2 billion portfolio including a total of 156 retail properties and shopping centers in seven countries.
ECE Projektmanagement has been operating for 40 years in Europe, including over 15 years in Poland. It focuses on investments in downtown malls. After closing the sale transaction ECE Projektmanagement will continue as manager of Galeria Dominikańska.
Dentons’ advisory was provided by Tomasz Stasiak (partner) and Anna Garbula-Węgrzynowska. On the Seller’s part the project was overseen by Marcin Muszel, partner in charge of the real estate practice of Gide Loyrette Nouel. The team also included Tomasz Roszczyc, Krzysztof Ciepliński and Szymon Chwaliński.

Poland through the eyes of foreign investors – Economic Survey 2013
On 23 April 2013 in the seat of AHK Poland a press conference took place during which a report from the Economic Survey 2013 was presented. The survey of the investment climate and business in Poland was conducted in February 2013 among companies with foreign capital which operate in Poland. It was organized within the International Group of Chambers of Commerce (IGCC).
As many as 151 companies with foreign capital operating in Poland took part in the 8th edition of the survey. It was conducted among seven bilateral chambers in Poland – Belgian, British, Canadian, German, Irish, Portuguese, Spanish and Swiss, operating within the IGCC.
