19th General Meeting

On 22 June 2017 the 19th General Meeting of the members of the Polish-Swiss Chamber of Commerce took place. The host of the meeting was Credit Suisse, which new seat we had a possibility to visit.

Aneta Kocemba, Head of Credit Suisse Warsaw and Konrad Kompa, Head of UK Investment Banking CRO Poland BDC held a presentation on Global Banking ‘Made in Poland’ – an outlook for Credit Suisse Poland.

We would like to thank Credit Suisse for hosting us in the building. We would also like to thank the Ambassador of Switzerland in Poland, Mr Andrej Motyl for his presence and welcome speech.

Swiss Pavilion at MachTool Fair 2017

Between 6th and 9th June 2017 we organized the Swiss Pavilion at the ITM Fair – Mach-Tool. 

It is a joint initiative of the Polish-Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Swiss Business Hub Poland which was held for the sixth time.

Almost 1000 exhibitors and 17 893 visitors took part in this edition of the trade fair.

The Swiss Pavilion consisted of the following companies: ANGST+PFISTER Polska sp. z o.o (www.angst-pfister.com), Bogucki Engineering (www.bogucki.org), EVOLTEC Tomasz Pawłowski (www.evoltec.pl), SCHURTER ELECTRONICS sp. z o.o. (www.schurter.pl), SUHNER TRANSMISSION AG (www.suhner.com).

Gudel Polska (www.gudel.com/pl) joined our initiative as well. Coffee was served by the company Jura (www.pl.jura.com).

Traditionally, on the second day of the trade fair, we organized Swiss-style apero for clients and business partners of Pavilion’s exhibitors.

Polish-Swiss Forum for Health Dialogue

The seventh edition of the Polish-Swiss Forum for Health Dialogue was held on 26 May. The topic of this year’s edition was “Patient-oriented and coordinated healthcare”.

The meeting was opened by Andrej Motyl, the Ambassador of the Swiss Embassy. After the official welcome a panel discussion was held with guests from Poland and Switzerland:

– Zbigniew Król, MD, Ph.D., Deputy Minister of Health,
– Ignazio Cassis, MD, Ph.D., Member of the Swiss National Parliament,
– Prof. Mirosław Wysocki, MD, Ph.D., Director of National Institute of Public Health, National Consultant- Public Health,
– Prof. Gregor Zünd, MD, Professor of Surgery, President of the Executive Board / CEO University Hospital Zurich,
– Prof. Ewelina Nojszewska, Ph.D., Warsaw School of Economics.

After the panel discussion moderated by Piotr Arak from Polityka Insight Renata Duchnowska MD, Ph.D. had a presentation on Coordinated approach in prevention and treatment of breast cancer and Prof. Jadwiga Nessler MD, Ph.D.,  presented Comprehensive and innovative treatment options in cardiology on the example of heart failure.

Presentation of the report on foreign invstments in Poland

On the 1st March 2017 in the Ministry of Economic Development, 14 international, bilateral Chambers of Commerce belonging to the International Group of Chambers of Commerce (IGCC) in Poland presented a report and held a panel discussion on: The Impact of Foreign Direct Investment. Contribution to the Polish economy in the past quarter century.

The main economist of Polityka Insight, Mr Adam Czerniak, presented the results of the report which served as an introduction to a panel discussion moderated by him in which took part:

New Year’s Meeting

On the 19 January took place the New Year’s Meeting for partners and companies affiliated with the Chamber. The meeting was held at Polonia Palace Hotel. The guest of honour, Ambassador Andrej Motyl and the Chamber’s President, Mr. Marek Szymański opened the event. The next speaker was our partner of the event – Mr. Rolf Frehner, Managing Director of Bank Vontobel AG.

Official opening was followed by awarding finalists of the 3rd edition of the competition „Swissstandards.pl. From theory to practice”. The winners were awarded by representatives of the partner companies:  Franke, Stämpfli, Swissmed and Zehnder.

After that, all the guests had a chance to talk over a glass of wine and buffet.

We would like to thank the partner of the event – Bank Vontobel AG and all the guests for such a numerous attendance.

How Switzerland has achieved success? Ideas for Poland.

On the 28th November at the Warsaw University Library a debate “How Switzerland has achieved success? Ideas for Poland” took place.

The debate was organised together with the Swiss Embassy and the Civil Development Forum (Forum Obywatelskiego Rozwoju) and was inspired by two books recently published “Swiss Made- The Untold Story behind Switzerland’s success” (R. James Breiding) and “Możesz być bogaty- czyli jak Szwajcarzy osiągnęli sukces gospodarczy” (W. Koydl).

The Swiss Ambassador to Poland Andrej Motyl opened the debate, in which the following experts took part: Secretary of State for the Ministry of Development – Jadwiga Emilewicz, representative of FOR – Dr Andrzej Rzońca, Managing Director of the Polish-Swiss Chamber of Commerce  – Ulrich Schwendimann, editor-in-chief of „Handelszeitung” – Stefan Barmettler and the Vice-President of the Polish Business Roundtable – Wojciech Kostrzewa. The discussion was moderated by Bogusław Chrabota – editor-in-chief of „Rzeczpospolita”.
