For centuries, colours have been used to communicate without words. However, without understanding the cultural context, we can misinterpret their meaning. This is a common mistake when translating advertising from local to global markets.
Colour can also be a conundrum for translators, as they are often part of idioms.
Join us for our Online Breakfast on the “Cultural symbolism of colours” on Thursday, 20th April at 8:00 am.
We will be talking about, among other things:
why taxis in Chicago are yellow
who likes “blue beefsteaks”
in which culture surnames are not to be written in red
what the favourite colour of politicians’ is
why Facebook chose blue for its logo
The meeting will be held by Kamila Radzyńska – business coach, specialised in intercultural communication, member of SIETAR Polska, R&D Manager experienced in foreign trade, romanist, passionate about the Far East, and winner of the Knowledge about France Competition organised by PR III radio and France Inter.

Please join us for our Online Breakfast on Thursday, April 6 at 8:00 a.m. This will be another meeting dedicated to the picturesque beauty of nature entitled “Canada, Part 3 – Under the Maple Leaf”.
You will find out, among other things:
how maple syrup is made
when the maple leaf appeared on the Canadian flag
which Canadian waterfall is taller than Niagara Falls
which tree was used to make riffle flasks and… violins
what weather phenomenon is called “l’été indien” (Indian summer)
whether it’s worth adding maple syrup to your daily diet
The meeting will be held by Kamila Radzyńska – business coach, specialised in intercultural communication, member of SIETAR Polska, R&D Manager experienced in foreign trade, romanist, passionate about the Far East, and winner of the Knowledge about France Competition organised by PR III radio and France Inter.

How important folklore is to Hungarians and their culture
Does Drew Barrymore speak Hungarian? And who else among celebrities has Hungarian roots?

We live in a time when unforeseen developments catch even the greatest strategists off guard. There is a lot of information coming at us from all sides, but what if the changes we have just begun to prepare for turn out to be even more different? Besides, we can be sure that the information will keep coming, and life will surprise us more than once.
So isn’t it worthwhile to learn to live happily right now, despite not always favourable circumstances? Is it even possible?
If you would like to learn how what we hear affects our well-being and happiness, how to separate the informative wheat from the chaff, and why it’s important to read books, come to the meeting on March 14th.
We will answer the following questions:
Do language differences affect how we experience happiness?
Can we learn how to distinguish between what benefits us and what harms us?
What is the difference between true information and false information?
Why is reading books better than scrolling through the news and watching videos?
Do we all have to be equally happy?
Agnieszka Dydycz, a writer by choice, a financier by education and experience, almost an M.Sc. in construction, a certified tutor, a mentor and coach, a member of the THINK TANK expert council, and a practitioner of the good life, will talk about the influence of language on our happiness. Her books entertain, but also inspire and help us find what is best and most important for us. Two recent novels titled “I will never be taller. But I can be happier!” and “I will never be younger. But who forbids me to try!” remind us that while caring for others, we cannot not forget about ourselves. And also about the fact that we can encounter happiness at any moment of our lives and regardless of the time of day or year, but it’s entirely up to us to notice and use it!

Foreign languages are no longer just a nice addition to your resume – they’re a necessity.
However, there is still a shortage of people with advanced language skills in the labour market.
The most sought-after employees are those who can perform more complex tasks in a foreign language, such as customer service, negotiation, content creation, conducting training, and presentations.
Conscious employees are eager to learn and take on new responsibilities.
This potential is worth tapping into!
And the best way to make rapid language progress is to learn with a teacher.
Personalized learning.
That is why language courses in Balajcza are tailored to the students (location, time, teacher). There are 3 variants to choose from:
General language course (including conversations)
Business language course (e.g. Business English)
Industry-specific course (e.g., IT, law)
You can also learn Polish for foreigners with Balajcza.
And for all Chamber members we have a special gift – a 50% discount on the first month of classes in any language!
Just contact the Balajcza office and provide the code (TIME4COURSE) and we will include the discount in the quote.
This is a great opportunity to take care of the company’s most valuable asset – its employees, as well as their development and satisfaction.
In such a situation, successes – both linguistic and business-related – are only a matter of time!

Thursday, 9 February 2023 8 am-9 am
Beirut downtown cityscape & Mohammad al amin mosque
Lebanon is the land of vineyards, orange orchards, green meadows and pine forests. This is where Arab culture meets Mediterranean culture. A country full of ancient monuments, wonderful landscapes, excellent cuisine and smiling, hospitable people. Many of us associate Lebanon only with war, while its real image turns out to be completely different from that known from the media.
Attend our Thursday Breakfast and find out:
why Lebanon is called the Switzerland of the Middle East,
what delicacies of Lebanese cuisine are the national pride of the Lebanese people,
why your legs hurt more than your head after a Lebanese wedding,
why a Lebanese bachelor wears a ring on his finger,
what attracts Polish pilgrimages to Lebanon.
The meeting will be hosted by:
Maria Błoch – globetrotter and recruiter for an international e-commerce company. She studied in Croatia, lived in Beirut and worked for a Lebanese-Nigerian company. Thanks to this experience she discovered all there is to know about Lebanese culture. After years of travelling, she returned to Poland and is now looking for talents on the UK, Czech and Polish markets.
